Snowboarding in New Zealand
New Zealand is a fantastic place to Snowboard. Due to unbelievably cheap early season pass prices, it's probably the cheapest place to snowboard in the world, and the snow conditions and terrain aren't too bad either.
There's a wide range of ski fields to choose from, with most of them being situated in the South Island, which has the majestic Southern Alps running almost the entire length of the Island. Of these, Mt Hutt, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Cardrona and Treble Cone are the most commercial and widely known, although there are large number of smaller commercial and club fields which are well worth checking out. The North Island also has 4 Ski Fields, three of them being situated on Mt Ruapehu, an active volcano in the Central Plateau. The two major ski areas are Whakapapa on the north side and Turoa on the south side.
